Lyle Spencer Law

Lyle Spencer Law, age 102, of Mount Carroll, Illinois, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026, at his home.

 A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Law Jones Funeral Home, Mt Carroll. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll, with military honors.

Lyle was born August 18, 1924, at his family’s home in Carroll County, the son of Wilbert and Della (Spencer) Law. He graduated from Milledgeville High School in 1942.

On June 29, 1947, Lyle married Lois Rosemary Haas at her family home in Savanna. Together, Lyle and Lois shared more than 79 years of marriage and raised three daughters, Sharon, Diane and Carol.

Lyle proudly served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the United States Army Air Forces. He enlisted on December 4, 1942, and was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945.

Throughout his working years, Lyle was involved in farming, banking, and insurance. He is past president of the Savanna State Bank and also the Mt. Carroll Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Carroll. Lyle enjoyed flying his airplane and fishing. Family was most important, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Lois; three daughters, Sharon (Lee) Larsen of Mt. Carroll, Diane Powers of Mt. Carroll, and Carol (Steve) Nordstrom of Ophir, Colorado; five grandchildren, Alison (Nick Distasio) Powers, Adam (Haley) Powers, Dan (Natalie) Nordstrom, Michael Nordstrom and Sam Nordstrom; and seven great-grandchildren, Tony and Nico Distasio, Hurley, Myla and Amsyn Powers, Noa and Cody Nordstrom.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gervace Law and Duane Law; and a son-in-law, Kevin Powers
