Lucille R. (Bardell) Rabuck, age 86, of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died Monday, June 14, 2010, at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Center, Mount Carroll. According to Lucille’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Frank – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. Memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 16. Memorials may be given to the family.
Lucille was born December 25, 1923, in Mott, North Dakota, the daughter of George and Ella (Gillette) Bardell. She graduated from Milledgeville High School. Lucille married Edgar Rabuck in January of 1948. He preceded her in death in May of 1975.
Lucille and Edgar farmed together in the Mount Carroll and Lanark areas for almost twenty years. Lucille then went to work for Atwood Automotive in 1967, retiring from there in 1991. Lucille loved to go to garage sales and rarely missed any in the area. She loved to take care of her yard, and also her garden and flowers. She enjoyed doing ceramics with her daughter Patty, macramé, country music, and dancing every Friday and Saturday night. Most importantly, she loved her family, always keeping in touch with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, taking a daily "inventory".
Lucille is survived and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Patty Preston of Mount Carroll, Illinois; one son, Gary (Rhonda) Rabuck of Crossville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Lindsay) Rabuck, Jenny (Randy) Schroeder, Melissa (Dusty) Preston, Kim (Tim) Herlitzka, Kelly (Eric) Brendemuehl, Tina (Chris) Becker, Dan (Stephanie) Bahr and Jeff Bahr; seventeen great grandchildren, Gracie and Riley Rabuck, Kylee and Erin Claussen, Erica, Aleah, and Evan Brendemuehl, Lucy and Clara Herlitzka, her best friend Taryn and Nina Preston, Kaila and Dustyn Bahr, Joe and Maddy Becker, and Josh and Noah Schroeder; and several nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edgar; one daughter, Karen Becke; two sons – in – law, Gene Preston and Norm Becke; one sister, Pearl (Jake) Hart; and three brothers, Raymond (Grace) Bardell, Clifford (Virginia) Bardell, and Ralph (Betty) Bardell.
