Lucille Helen (Miller) Koester, age 92, of Warren, Illinois, formerly of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at her home in Warren. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth with Pastor Kenneth Arndt officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at church prior to the service. A Memorial has been established in Lucille’s name.
Lucille was born January 26, 1916, in Thompson Twp, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Lavina (Karberg) Miller. She was confirmed on April 9, 1933, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shapville, Illinois. On February 27, 1935, she was united in marriage to LaVern Koester, he passed away July 31, 2007, they had been married for seventy – two years. They were the parents of four children.
Lucille and her husband farmed in Guilford and Thompson Townships until 1971 when they sold their farm and moved to Elizabeth. Lucille enjoyed being a housewife and mother, working in the garden, planting flowers, embroidering and playing cards. She is a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabeth.
Lucille is survived by two daughters, Pearl (Eugene) McKee of Warren, Illinois, and Mildred (Jimmy) Steffes of rural Elizabeth, Illinois; one son Myron (Phyllis) Koester of Elizabeth; fourteen grandchildren, twenty – three great grandchildren and six great – great grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LaVern, an infant son, two grandsons, two sisters, Bernice Heidenrich and Pearl Hammer, and one brother, LaVern Miller.
