Lucille I. Avery, age 91, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. It was Lucille’s wish to donate her body to the University of Northern Illinois for medical research. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date when inurnment takes place at Lanark Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her memory, to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark, Ilinois.
Lucille was born December 11, 1916 on a farm near Lanark, Illinois to William and Emma (Schleuning) Lotz. She graduated from Lanark High School with the class of 1934. In 1963 she married Hubert (Hugh) Avery. He died January 19, 2003.
Lucille was employed for many years at Champion Dry Goods in Lanark. She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lanark and a member of Savanna Women of the Moose, Savanna. Lucille enjoyed her family, church, friends, crafts, cards, bingo, bowling and camping.
Lucille will be dearly missed by one daughter, Dolores Lamoreux of Lawrenceville, Georgia; a son-in-law Richard (Margaret) McLaughlin of Minooka, Illinois; two granddaughters, two grandsons, one great grandson, two great granddaughters, a sister in-law, June Henning of Eustis, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
