On October 13, 2012 Loyal 'Buck' Schreiner passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones. A lifelong resident of the Carroll County area, by his own accounting he had lived 85 enjoyable years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Ann Walker Schreiner, and his six children and their families: Deborah (Stephen) Roush of Hebron, KY; Brian (Alma) Schreiner of Hanover, IL; Celeste (Michael) Webb of Edwardsville IL; Kevin (Judy) Schreiner of Savanna, IL; Nathan (Doris) Schreiner of Bethalto, IL; and Sonja Rodebaugh of Dixon, IL. He and Sue have 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He had been a long time member of the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, American Legion, Rotary, Masonic Lodge and the Savanna Presbyterian Church. For many years Buck farmed in the Mt. Carroll area. Also, Buck retired from the US Post Office in 1988, and shortly thereafter began his second career with Sue as a successful team of real estate agents for over 20 years.
He and Sue traveled extensively to the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, and across the USA visiting friends and serving with church mission trips. They attended the graduations and weddings of all their offspring and grandchildren. Buck truly enjoyed spending time with Sue as they were traveling and visiting with family, hunting and boating on the Mississippi River, and attending the annual Schreiner Family reunions every year for the last 20 years.
He will be laid to rest in the Adams-Daggert cemetery in Salem Township. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 16th at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna and a funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, October 17th at the First Presbyterian Church in Savanna with Reverend Michael Wey officiating. A Memorial Fund has been established in Buck's memory, C/O Law-Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 309, Savanna, Illinois 61074. The memory of his gentle and kind spirit will be cherished by those who knew him as they rejoice in his life and his reunion with his Lord.
