Louis E. Sullivan, age 76, of Goose lake, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Assumption Catholic Church, Charlotte, Iowa with Father Scott Lemaster as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Bryant, Iowa. Military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa.
Louis was born on January 15, 1931, the son of Ambrose E. and Alma L. (Brammerlo) Sullivan in Preston, Iowa. He attended Miles Schools and graduated from Goose Lake High School with the Class of 1949. Louis served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1950 until 1953. He married Maxine A. Medinger on May 5, 1956 at the St. Peter Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, Iowa.
Louis farmed in Goose Lake and Bryant, Iowa for over 50 years. He drove truck for the Preston Creamery and was a fireman for Clinton Corn. He also sold seed corn for Cornelius Corn in Andrew, Iowa. Louis was a member of the Miles Iowa American Legion and was a past member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau and the Northeast Iowa School Board. He was also a member of the Goose Lake Lions Club and the Goose Lake and Charlotte Saddle Club. He enjoyed dogs, cats, horses, dancing, playing cards and Polka music, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Louis will be dearly missed by his wife, Maxine of Goose Lake; two sons, Ronald Sullivan and Rick (Lisa) Sullivan all of Bryant, Iowa; five daughters, Colleen Goddard of Clinton; Maureen (Terry) Geerts of Clinton, Diane (Michael) Flesch of Bryant, Janet (Gregory) Kilburg of Bellevue, Iowa and Kathy Sullivan of Clinton; one brother, Vernon Sullivan of Clinton; one sister, Mariel Adamson of Bloomington, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law; nineteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Louis is preceded in death by three sons, Donald, John and Randy; two brothers, Gordon and Eldon and one sister, Hazel.
