Lorrie Ann Smith

November 26, 1966 — March 28, 2024

Lorrie Ann Smith, whose spirit and infectious laughter brightened the lives of those around her, unexpectedly passed away at her home near Savanna, Illinois, on March 28, 2024.

Born on November 26, 1966, in Savanna to Larry and Patricia (Fair) Cox, She attended Savanna Schools and later went on to become a loving mother to three children: Ashley, Devon, and Maggie. Lorrie was described by her children as understanding, supportive, funny, flirty, and occasionally stubborn and loud.

Throughout her life, Lorrie experienced love in various forms. She was married twice, first to Kenneth Brashaw, with whom she ventured to California before returning to her beloved hometown of Savanna. She later married Kevin Smith in 1990. In addition to her marriages, Lorrie had two significant others who were important parts of her life, Brian Furniss and Jeremy Morgan.

Lorrie had a deep affection for animals and cherished the simple joys of life. She found happiness in playing computer games, watching movies, and adoring characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Her bond with her mother, Patricia, was incredibly close, akin to two peas in a pod.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Ashley Brashaw (Michael Spain) of Savanna, Devon Brashaw of Kewanee, Illinois, and Margaret "Maggie" Smith (Joshua Tarkington) of Savanna; her grandchildren, Landin Kerkove, Brody Nelson and Cadence Nelson; as well as her mother, Patricia Cox of Savanna; and her siblings, Gregory (Krissy) Cox, Douglas Cox, and Jeffrey Knouse, all of Savanna. Lorrie was preceded in death by her father, Larry Cox.

Lorrie's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her laughter, love, and zest for life will forever be remembered and cherished by her family and friends. There will be no public services for Lorrie.
