Lorraine R. Helle

Lorraine R. Helle, of Thomson, IL, passed away Thursday, June 29, at her home. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, at Savanna Township Cemetery in Savanna, IL.

Lorraine was born February 24, 1943, daughter of Reynold and Virginia (Mertz) Shafer. She grew up in Oregon, IL, and attended Oregon schools. Lorraine graduated from Oregon High School with the class of 1961. She raised three daughters, Coweina, Julie, and Sheri. Lorraine married Stan Helle in 1973. Together Lorraine and Stan celebrated 37 years of marriage until Stan’s passing in 2010. Later in life Lorraine married Harley Helle. They celebrated nine years of marriage until Harley’s passing.

Lorraine worked at the Dura Plant in Mt. Carroll, IL, for many years. In her free time she enjoyed puzzles and word searches. Earlier in life, Lorraine like tending to her yard and garden. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, and baking them cakes for birthdays. She set an example of love and strength for those she loved most.

Lorraine will be dearly missed by her loving daughters, Coweina Travis of Ashton, IL, Juile Johnson of Ashton, IL, and Sheri Hooper of Clinton, IA; one step-son, Aaron Helle of Ohio; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, Reynold and Virginia.
