Lorraine Gray

Lorraine M. Gray, age 92, of Miles, Iowa passed away Friday, July 8, 2005 in Mercy Medical Center-North in Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2005 at First United Presbyterian Church, Miles, Iowa. Pastor Bill Warhover will officiate. Burial will be in the Miles, Cemetery in Miles, Iowa. Friends may call from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Preston, Iowa. Lorraine was born March 22, 1913, in Sterling, Iowa, the son of John & Luella (Taplin) Gray. He farmed his entire life in the Sabula-Miles area. On March 26, 1938, Lorraine married Cecelia Lawrence, she passed away on September 22, 1990.
Lorraine enjoyed traveling with his wife, Cecelia. They very much enjoyed visiting family and friends. Lorraine was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan.
Lorraine was a Charter Member of the Miles Presbyterian Church. He assisted many Ministers in serving communion to the home-bound church members.
Lorraine served nineteen years on various boards for the Miles Presbyterian Church in Miles, Iowa. He served many years as Assistant District Soil Commissioner of Jackson County, and six years as the District Commissioner. Lorraine served fifty years on the Sterling Iowa Cemetery Board being the President of the board for forty-six years.
Lorraine will be deeply missed by his three sons, Donald (Cleo) Gray of Preston, Iowa, David (Patt) Gray of Arlington, Texas and Thomas (Sandy) Gray of Miles, Iowa; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Vera) Gray of Sabula and Clifton (Mary) Gray of Miles, Iowa; one sister in-law, Luverne Gray of Clinton, Iowa.
Lorraine was preceded in death by his wife, parents; one granddaughter; one grandson; two brothers; two sisters; one sister in-law and one brother in-law.
