Lorraine "Irish" Boyd

Lorraine “Irish” Boyd, age 90 of Lyons Falls, New York and formerly of Savanna, Illinois, died peacefully on Aug 28th, 2013 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, New York. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna, with Father Dennis Atto as Celebrant. Burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 5:30-7:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, with a Scripture Wake Service held at 5:00 p.m., prior to the visitation at the funeral home.
Lorraine was born on August 27, 1923 in Hastings, Minnesota, the daughter of Augustus T. and Emma (Schlirf) Daulton the youngest of 10 children. She married Preston Boyd of Mt. Carroll, Illinois on July 9, 1947 at the Corpus Cristi Catholic Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Lorraine and her husband, Preston made their home in Savanna. She worked for ten years as a Secretary at the Savanna Army Depot, sixteen years as Deputy Clerk to the Clerk of the Circuit Court at the Court House in Mt. Carroll and as Savanna City Clerk for two years. Lorraine belonged to St John the Baptist Catholic Church for over sixty years; serving as Regent of Catholic Daughters for six years, teaching 4th grade religion for ten years and served as the first President of the newly formed Catholic Women.
Lorraine is survived by her two daughters, Kathy (Jim) Skorupa of Lyons Falls and Patty (Gary) Albers of Winsted, Connecticut; one son, Joe (Ila) Boyd of Edinburgh, Indiana; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston; one son, Michael; her parents; five sisters and four brothers.
