Loris L. Beyer, age 88, of Elizabeth, Illinois passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Marshalltown, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. Burial will take place in Elizabeth Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Church, and also one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Loris was born December 18, 1928, in Derinda Township, the daughter of Edmund and Ella (Hess) Guenzler. She attended the Massbach Country School. On April 9, 1947, Loris married Lee Beyer at Derinda Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. They celebrated 66 years of marriage until Lee’s death in 2013.
Loris loved farming with her husband, Lee for many years. She also conducted a painting, decorating, and wood finishing business for several years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was part of the church choir, and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She loved flowers, gardening, sewing, photography, and visiting with her family and friends.
Loris will be dearly missed by two sons, Wayne Beyer of Chicago, Illinois and Roger (Sherri) Beyer of Eldridge, Iowa; two grandchildren, Amanda (Aaron) Steffen and Lindsay Beyer and spouse, Justin Kellett; two brothers, Marion (Joyce) Guenzler and Ivan (Kathleen) Guenzler, both of Elizabeth; and one sister, Marlys Zink of Warren, Illinois. Loris is preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her parents, Edmund and Ella; two sisters, Irma Beyer and Edna Hickman, and two brothers-in-law, Robert Zink and Robert Hickman.
