Loretta Kauth

d. September 11, 2010

Loretta Kauth, 94, of Elizabeth, Il .died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home with her family at her side. She was the daughter of Catherine(Daleiden) and Charles Gross of Chicago and sister to Ted(Ruth)Gross, John(Lu)Gross, Carlie Gross, Angela(Clarence)Weiser, Agnes(Jim)Mersch, Kate(Madge)Violet, Clara(Jack)Flaherty, Marie(Sr.Clarette O.S.F.), Catherine Gross, Ceil(Bud)Violett and Beatrice(Daniel)Sakowski.
Loretta attended St. Gregory’s Grade School and Mallinckrodt and St.Clements High Schools in Chicago. Following her graduation, Loretta worked for her Grandfather at his store, J.P.Daleiden’s Church Goods, until she married. Clemens Kauth in 1936. They had two children, Mary Kay(Paul)Fitzpatrick of Elizabeth, Il. and Kenneth(Amy)Kauth of Palatine, Il.
Through the years, Loretta worked as a ‘Personal Secretary’ for various businesses and for St. Genevieve’s Parish Rectory.
In 1972, Loretta and Clem retired to Elizabeth, Il.. As members of the Church of St. Mary’s, they attended daily Mass together. Following Clem’s death in 1993, she became a vital member of several committees in the parish and ministered to the residents of the Elizabeth Nursing Home. She also was a tutor in the Literacy Program for residents of Elizabeth and neighboring towns.
In 2006, Loretta moved to The Academy Apartments at Sinsinawa, Wi, enjoying its beauty, serenity, and liturgies with the company of newfound friends.
Her Catholic faith and her family were of paramount importance in her life. She was a beautiful role model to her family, remaining steadfast in her faith, no matter the adversity. She was a woman of prayer, but also a woman who put prayer into action. If there was a need, Loretta was there to supply it and if she couldn't, she confidently handed that job over to Jesus and His Blessed Mother to do for her. No one was ever a stranger to Loretta, but rather just "someone waiting to become a friend"!
Though blessed with many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, she treated each of them as if they were the "only" one and thus developed a very special relationship with each of them.
Loretta is survived by her sister Ceil, by her children, Mary Kay and Kenneth, by 8 Grandchildren - Bridgid Krohmer, Christopher(Kevin Roth)Fitzpatrick, Gregory(Colleen)Fitzpatrick, Jeffrey(Judy)Fitzpatrick, Mary Eileen(Wes) Hargrove, David, Andrea and Jenny Kauth.and by 11 Great-Grandchildren - Kurt and Kate Krohmer, Michael, John and Steven Fitzpatrick, Megan, Melissa and Marcus Fitzpatrick, Cory, Paige and Gabriel Hargrove, and by her brother-in-law Francis(Ann)Kauth(of Boulder, Co.) and by her many Nieces and Nephews.
Even in death, Loretta, is still "giving to others" as she has donated her body to science. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11:30a.m. at The Church of St. Mary in Elizabeth, Il..
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Masses be offered for Loretta
