Lorene Massie

Lorene Massie, age 79, of Savanna, Illinois died Monday, January 28, 2013 at HCR Manor Care, Utica Ridge, Davenport, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna, with Father David Austin as Celebrant. Inurnment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Lorene was born October 2, 1933, the daughter of Walter and Grace (Ireland) Carey. She married Edward Massie on May 4, 1951 in Morrison, Illinois. Edward passed away August 8, 2009.
Lorene worked for the Savanna School District for many years in the kitchen and lunchroom. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and playing slots at the casino.
Lorene will be dearly missed by four sons, Carey Massie of Savanna, Jerry (Theresa) Massie of Manteno, Illinois, Jack (Kris) Massie of Stevensville, Michigan and Kurt (Jackie) Massie of Parkview, Iowa; a daughter, Barbara (Alex) Masters of Jacksonville, Florida; ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Lorene is preceded in death by her husband and an infant son, David.
