Lonnnie Westmorland

December 31, 1969 — January 9, 2012

Lonnie Westmorland, age 81 of Savanna, Illinois died on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A home going service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the New Unity Deliverance and Worship Center, Savanna with Bishop James A. Wade and Apostle Lornell Grayson officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois.
Lonnie was born on December 22, 1930, the son of Johnny and Ludie Westmorland in Durant, Mississippi. He married Doretha (Baines) Bullock on December 17, 1983. Doretha died on January 16, 1997. Lonnie was raised in Mississippi and worked in the fields while growing up. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After he was discharged, Lonnie worked as a custodian for the Savanna Army Depot for over thirty-five years. He was a member of the New Unity Deliverance and Worship Center, Savanna and was proud to help with the janitorial needs of the center. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening, and riding his bicycle.
Lonnie is survived by four children, Trista Williams, William Westmorland, and Kenneth (Jeanette) Westmorland all of Dixon, Illinois and Roger (Helena) Bullock of Surprise, Arizona and seventeen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doretha and his twin brother, Johnny in infancy.
