Lois “Loie” (White) Farrell age 91, of Hanover, Illinois, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover, with Father Dennis Morrissy as Celebrant. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Hanover. Visitation will take place from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016 with a Rosary Service held at 6:30 p.m. at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. Memorial fund has been established in Lois’ memory.
Lois was born December 13, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Art and Kate (Voellinger) White. She married Patrick T. Farrell on October 1, 1945. They had three children, Patrick “Mike” Farrell, Terry James Farrell and Patti “P.K.” Faramus.
Lois was active in her church and community. She owned and operated Farrell’s Motel for over 30 years with her husband, Pat. Lois was a member of the Jo Daviess County Mental Health Board and President of a Mental Health Support Group. She was secretary of the Hanover Ambulance Board for 5 years. She was also active in the Jo Daviess County Food Pantry and the VFW Auxiliary for fifty years. Lois was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and treasurer of St. Anne’s Society for many years. Lois loved her home, family, and many dear friends. She enjoyed life every day, even planting her beloved moss roses at the age of 91 on Mother’s Day.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Susan) Farrell of Galena, Illinois, Terry (Patti) Farrell of Sun City, Arizona, P.K. (Eric) Faramus of Galena; her precious grandchildren, Laura, Sarah, John T., Elizabeth; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Patrick; daughter in-law, Jan Farrell; great-granddaughter, Molly Sue Farrell and sisters, Jayne (Tom) Bell and Gini (Jerry) Frieweiler.
