Lois G. Ross, age 93, of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at her home. Memorial Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. January 6, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church, Savanna. Reverend Michael Wey will officiate. Inurnment will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Church.
Lois was born December 7, 1912 in rural JoDavies County, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer C. and Mamie (Williamson) Frederick. At age four her family moved to Mt.Carroll, Illinois where she helped her father on his milk route. Lois attended Mt. Carroll Elementary School and later moved to Savanna where she attended Savanna High School. Lois earned her Teaching Degree in Education from Francis Shimer College. On June 20, 1937 Lois married John C. Ross in Savanna, Illinois. John passed away on September 7, 1964 in Clinton, Iowa.

Lois taught school for six years at Union Grove Rural School and twenty-nine years in the Savanna School System. She also worked at the Savanna Township Public Library for nine years.

Lois was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Savanna and a member for more than 70 years. She taught Sunday school at her church, sang in the choir, was a clerk for the Presbyterian Women’s Organization and the Financial Secretary. Lois held membership in the Carroll County Teachers Association and the Illinois Education Association. She was active in the Savanna Reading Club and very much enjoyed playing Bridge and "500" with her friend’s in Savanna. Lois dearly loved her family, friends, pets, flowers and watching birds.
Lois will be dearly missed by her daughter, Linda (Joseph) Sumperer of Lynnwood Estates in Thomson, Illinois; and her son, John "Jack" Ross of Savanna; and two nephews, Bob and Dick Gillogoly.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
