Lois B. O’Donnell, age 78, of Sabula, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. A visitation will be held 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 14, 2017, at the church. Memorials may be made in Lois’ name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Lois was born July 20, 1938, the daughter of Victor and Marguerite (Schneider) Born. She attended and graduated from Steinmetz High School. Lois married Terence O’Donnell on June 18, 1960, at St. Ida’s Catholic Church in Chicago.
After graduation, Lois worked as an office clerk for Commonwealth Edison in Chicago. She later attended Harry S. Truman College where she received her Associates Degree in Computer Sciences. She was employed as a computer programmer for Washington National Insurance Company and CNA Insurance Company. After moving to Sabula in 1992, she went to work at Iowa Mutual Insurance Company in Dewitt, Iowa. Lois enjoyed square dancing, reading, and travelling the United States with her husband. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active in the ELCA.
Lois will be missed by her husband of 56 years, Terence; three children, Colleen (Ken) Adams of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, Charles (Lori) O’Donnell of Columbus, Ohio, and Timothy O’Donnell of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren, Ashley Adams, Matthew (fiancé Monica Goshorn-Maroney) Adams, and Eric Adams, all of Mt. Prospect; two sisters, Carole (James) Davidson of Mt. Prospect, and Bonnie (Ron) Bittner of Park Ridge, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents.
