Lois A. Hartney of Savanna, Illinois, passed away January 26, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Burial will be in the Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. Reverend Bob Hamilton of Community United Church of Christ in Savanna will officiate. Friends may call from 12:30- 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2006 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lois was born on August 21, 1919 the daughter of Bert and Cora A. (Mogan) Wheldon in Savanna, Illinois. She graduated from Savanna High School, Class of 1937. On October 7, 1940, Lois married Wayne L. Hartney in Dubuque, Iowa. Wayne passed away on April 20, 1978.
Lois worked as a Telephone Operator for Centel Communications for thirty years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Community United Church of Christ in Savanna.
Lois enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, and playing Solitaire. Most of all she loved and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lois will be deeply missed by her son, Jim (Cheryl) Hartney of Eleroy, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jimmie Hartney II of Warren, Illinois, Andrea (Daniel) Hicks of Warren and Stephanie (Sean) Flynn of Pearl City, Illinois; five great grandchildren, Jordyn, Alex, Bryanna, Ben and Autumn; a niece, Marne (Spencer) Swift of Herlong, California; and one brother in-law, Richard Hartney of Whittier, California.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; one brother, Keith Wheldon and one sister, Floy Wheldon.
