Lois Luella Daehler

Lois Luella Daehler, age 89, of Chadwick, and long-time resident of the Stephenson County Nursing Center, Freeport, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the Stephenson County Nursing Center, Freeport, Illinois. A graveside funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in the Chadwick Cemetery, Chadwick, Illinois. A Celebration of Life service held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Shannon Baptist Church, Shannon, Illinois, with Pastor Tim Lehman of the Shannon Baptist Church officiating. A luncheon will follow. Memorials may be made to the Shannon Baptist Church or FHN Hospice. Family and friends are invited to share in Lois life at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com .


Lois was born October 17, 1928, in Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Luella (Humprey) McDearmon. She is a 1949 graduate of the Morrison High School, Morrison, Illinois. On September 1, 1949, Lois married James Vandermyde in Malvern, Illinois. They celebrated thirty-six years of marriage until James’ passing in 1985. Lois later married Ellwood Daehler on May 4, 1990. They celebrated nine years of marriage until Ellwood’s passing in 2000.


Lois was a homemaker and helped farm with her first husband James. At that time she also worked for General Electric and the National Tea Grocery Store in Morrison. After James' passing, Lois received her CNA Degree and worked at the Villas of Shannon Nursing Home for several years. She later worked at the Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll and Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. She was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison.


Lois enjoyed baking pies. She liked farming and listening to WGN farm reports. She also liked traveling with family and enjoying long Sunday drives in the countryside.


Lois will be dearly missed by her two sons, Keith Vandermyde of Lanark, Illinois and Neal Vandermyde of Chadwick, Illinois; two grandchildren, Jim Vandermyde of Chadwick and Christina Vandermyde of Naperville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois is preceded in death by both of her husbands; her parents; two brothers, Warren and Larry McDearmon; and two sisters, Olivia Duuck and Marion Deets.
