Lois M. Burkholder, age 78, of Savanna, Illinois died Friday, October 28, 2005 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Private Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at the Elkhorn Cemetery in Milledgeville, Illinois, with Reverend Gary Abney officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Hospice Group of DeWitt, Iowa, in Lois’s name.
Lois was born October 17, 1927 in rural Milledgeville, Illinois the daughter of Harold O. and Annie M. (Stone) Sarber. She graduated from Milledgeville High School, Class of 1945. She married Hase M. Burkholder December 22, 1945 in Milledgeville, Illinois. He died on July 21, 1981 in Savanna, Illinois.
Lois worked as an aide in the Mt. Carroll Public Library for a number of years. She also enjoyed working alongside her husband on the family grain and livestock farm until she retired. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Lois will be deeply missed by her daughter, Peggy (William) Getz of Waynesville, Missouri; one son, Steve Burkholder of Lanark, Illinois; one brother, Wayne Sarber of Savanna, Illinois; one sister, Alice Shilling of Lanark, Illinois; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband Hase, and her parents.
