Lois M. Burke, age 82, of rural Clinton, Iowa died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2006 at United Presbyterian Church, Miles, Iowa, with Reverend William Warhover officiating. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 8:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the memorial service, at the United Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be given to the United Presbyterian Church of Miles, Iowa, in Lois’s memory.
Lois was born June 22, 1924 in Sterling, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Florene (Wilson) Corlis. She graduated from Miles High School. Lois married Charles Burke on February 20, 1944, at the Miles Methodist Church.
Lois was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in rural Clinton for over fifty years. She enjoyed the outdoors and traveling. Lois was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church in Miles, Iowa. She served as an elder on the church board and taught Sunday School. Lois was a “people person”. She loved her farm and was very dedicated to her family.
Lois will be missed by her husband, Charles Burke of rural Clinton, Iowa; one son, Alan (Becky) Burke of Fort Collins, Colorado; one daughter, Gail (Charles) Levsen of Clinton, Iowa; and four grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Winston; and one sister, Betty.
