Lois JoAnn “Babe” Tebbe cherished flowers and family, especially Sunday family dinners on the farm. She died at the age of 83 on January 4, 2014 at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue, Iowa. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at St Joseph Catholic Church, Preston, Iowa. Burial will take place in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston. A visitation will be held from 3:00 - 7:00p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston. A memorial fund has been established in Lois’ name.
Lois was born April 9, 1930, the daughter of Edward and Gladys (McMahon) Reistroffer, on the family farm in rural Gooselake, Iowa. She graduated from Preston High School with the Class of 1949. Later that year, on October 25, 1949 Lois married, Harold Tebbe. Harold died on December 21, 1983.
Lois worked in the speaker factory in Sabula, Iowa and Ensign in Bellevue for several years. After she retired she worked at the Preston meat locker. Lois was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston and the American Legion Auxiliary in Spragueville, Iowa. Lois enjoyed bowling and making quilts. She also enjoyed being outside fishing or working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and babysitting her grandkids.
Lois will be dearly missed by one son, Gary (Bonita) Tebbe of Preston; her three daughters, Linda (Richard) Merrick of Maquoketa, Iowa, Beverly (Kennard) Miller of Sabula and Karla (Alan) Bruns of Maquoketa; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great- grandchildren; two brothers, Allen “Bud” (Evelyn) Reistroffer of Camanche, Iowa and Charles (DeLores) Reistroffer of Maquoketa; one sister Dorothy (George Jr.) Beck of Spragueville.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Harold; two sisters, Jerrine Boyert and Betty Mootz; two brothers Robert Reistroffer and Donald Reistroffer; and both her parents.
