Lloyd C. Walls

Lloyd C. Walls, 79, of Scales Mound, Illinois, formerly of Hanover, Illinois, passed away, Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home Hanover, Illinois. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Hanover with Military Rites accorded by the Hanover Veterans of Foreign War Post #5300. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2007 at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Hanover. Memorials may be given in Lloyds honor.
Lloyd was born on April 1, 1928, the son of Newt and Iva (Pennington) Walls in Step Rock, Arkansas. He attended school in Arkansas. In 1944, Lloyd served with the United States Army Airborne in a Paratrooper unit during World War II. On July 9, 1948, he married Elma A. Gather in Lake City, Arkansas. She passed away on October 31, 1996 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Lloyd farmed, worked as a carpenter and worked at a Foundry in Dundee, Illinois. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races; gardening, and watching the St. Louis Cardinal baseball games on television.
Lloyd will be dearly missed by his two daughters, Brenda (William) Metcalf of Rockford, IL and Peggy (Kevin) Knoepfle of Belvidere, Illinois; four sons, Lloyd Dean Walls of Scales Mound, Illinois, Steven (Lisa) Walls of Sedona, Arizona, Jim Walls of Rockford and Larry (Renee) Walls of Loves Park, Illinois; one sister, Beatrice Allen of Niles, Michigan; two brothers, Aaron Walls of East Dundee and Louis Walls of Niles, Michigan; one sister in-law, Marie Walls of Niles, Michigan. thirteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elma; four brothers, Warren, Billy Wayne, Ted and Leo; a sister in-law, June; and one brother in-law, Raymond.
