Lloyd F. Hamilton Jr.

Lloyd F. Hamilton, Jr. age 74, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Lloyd was born November 15, 1941, in Savanna, the son of Lloyd F. and Mae M. (Pugh) Hamilton, Sr.. He attended Savanna High School. On December 10, 1960, Lloyd married the love of his life Paulette Kay Hamm at the United Methodist Church in Thomson, Illinois. Lloyd worked for the Milwaukee Railroad in Savanna as a laborer, he also worked for Clinton Corn in Clinton, Iowa where he worked in the Lactic Department. He later went to work for Case IH in East Moline, Illinois, as an electro static painter and decal handler for the combines and tractors and retired after many years. During his retirement years Lloyd went to work for the Savanna School District as an outdoors maintenance worker.
Lloyd was a faithful blood donor. He donated over 36 gallons of blood in his lifetime, and even in death he gave the gift of organ donation. He enjoyed morning coffee with his buddies at the VFW in Savanna, morel hunting, cutting wood, playing Euchre, feeding his birds and chasing the squirrels out of his feeders. Most of all Lloyd treasured the time he spent with his family and friends and coming up with unique nicknames for all of his grandchildren.
Lloyd loved his family beyond measure and those left to honor him are his wife of 55 years, Paulette; a daughter, Brenda Byers of Charlotte, Iowa; two sons, Brian (Jennifer) Hamilton of Columbus, Ohio, Bret Hamilton of Savanna; ten grandchildren, Jessica Odell, Erin, Brittani, Brianna, Kendra Byers, Caitlin, Clayton, Riley, Shawna Hamilton and Amonte Enrinquez; five great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Emily, Karissa, Maddisen O’ Dell and Kyle D. Schroeder; his grand puppy and companion, Buddy; two sisters, Sharon (Ray) Shafer and Nancy Wurster; four sisters in-law, Gloria Hamilton, Clara Bauer, Shirley Reiland, Bette Dellinger; brother in-law, Doug Hamm and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lloyd F. Hamilton III; a brother, Terry Ray Hamilton; a sister Carol Lee Hamilton and a great-granddaughter, Scarlett Ophillia Sapp.
