Lloyd F. Hamilton, Sr., age 90, of Savanna, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 11 2008, at home surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2008 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will be in the Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Lloyd’s memory.

Lloyd was born on August 22, 1917 in Eldina, Illinois, the son of Lee and Bessie (Clovis) Hamilton. He attended school in Fulton, Illinois. Lloyd married Mae M. Pugh on November 7, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa.

Lloyd worked as a Mechanic and Assistant Foreman for the Milwaukee Railroad, Savanna, for thirty eight years, retiring in 1978. After his retirement from the railroad, he repaired laundry machines at the Palisades Bowl and Laundromat for ten years. Lloyd loved staying busy; he gardened, built birdhouses and constructed feeders for birds and deer. Most of all, Lloyd loved spending time with his family and friends.

Lloyd will be dearly missed by his wife, Mae of Savanna; three sons, Lloyd (Paulette) Hamilton Jr., Bill (Janet) Hamilton, and Terry (Gloria) Hamilton, all of Savanna; two daughters, Nancy (Wayne) Wurster and Sharon (Ray) Shafer, both of Savanna; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren; one niece, Lyla (Terry) Taylor of Rock Island, Illinois.

Lloyd is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Lee; two grandsons, Lloyd Hamilton III and Linden Speers; two brothers, Lyle and Elmer Hamilton; and two sisters, Fern Hamilton and Eva Gibson.
