Lisa was born October 19, 1969, in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Wayne and Mary Lou (Troha) Stoddard. Growing up in Savanna, IL, she attended Savanna schools, graduating from Savanna High School with the class of 1987. She went on to attend Highland Community College and Mt. Saint Clair College, before earning her Master’s at St. Ambrose University. Lisa worked as a sales representative for a number of companies, most recently with Custom Pak, in Clinton, IA. She travelled throughout the U.S. servicing accounts, and she loved it.
Lisa was quite the darts player, and on one evening in Mt. Carroll, her love of darts opened the door to a new love. It was dart league at the old Kalamazoo’s on a December night in 2011, and Lisa’s team needed a substitute. One of her teammates talked his buddy, Scott Hubble, into filling in. Scott had never even thrown a dart, but he was convinced by the promise of free drinks. He and Lisa hit it off that night and less than a year later, on August 20, 2012, Lisa and Scott were married at the Goldmoor Inn, in Galena, IL.
Lisa and Scott shared their love of darts for the entirety of their time together, travelling the nation competing in tournaments. She was also a talented pool and billiards player, taking 1st place in the Iowa State competition. She loved zoos, movie theaters, gambling, and trying new food; she never wanted to eat at the same place twice! Lisa also had a heart of gold. She and Scott joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and grew to love the time spent with their “little,” Kaylee.
In 2012, just months before her wedding, Lisa was diagnosed with cancer. For the rest of her life, she fought through multiple diagnoses and countless treatments. And through it all, she never lost her cheerful spirit and caring personality. She was dealt a tough hand, but sure as hell wasn’t going to let it beat her down. She became a passionate advocate for cancer patients and their charitable causes, and made sure to show her love to family every chance she had. She loved her nieces and nephews like they were her own kids!
Lisa will be dearly missed by her husband, Scott; mother, Mary Lou Stoddard; three siblings, Stephen (Rita) Brown, Barbara (Joel) Ritchie, and Brian (Robyn Eib) Brown; two sisters-in-law, Shelby (Justin Dake) Hubble and Stephanie Moore; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Amy Hubble; nephews, David (Catherine) Hamling, Colin (Aley) Hamling, Matthew Ritchie, Boone Moore and Brecken Moore; nieces, Jessica (Jake) Engaldo, Makenzie Brown, Hannah Brown, Sarah Ritchie, and Samantha (Jeremy) Hughes; five great nephews; seven great nieces; and “little sister” Kaylee.
Lisa is preceded in death by her father, Wayne Stoddard; grandparents, Walter and Lola Stoddard, Stephen and Marie Troha, and Barbara Troha.
