Linda Lou Von Essen, age 68, of Savanna, Illinois died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mount Carroll, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place in the Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013 prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Linda’s memory.
Linda was born on August 22, 1944, the daughter of Richard and Virginia (Sigafus) Picolotti in Savanna. She attended St. John's Catholic Grade School, Savanna, and graduated from the Savanna High School. Linda married George Von Essen on June 4, 1977 in Savanna.
Linda worked as an operator for the Savanna Telephone Company and then as an X-Ray Technician at the Savanna City Hospital. When she married George, she was a homemaker and helped with Von Essen Plumbing and Heating, Savanna. Linda enjoyed crafts, such as ceramics and knitting. She also liked to go camping, crossword puzzles and going on long walks with her husband, George.
Linda is survived by her husband of 36 years, George Von Essen; her son, Chad (Hazel) Corbett, of Savanna; her three step-daughters, Cathy (Russell) Hunter of Menominee, Wisconsin, Chris (Mike) Hayward and Amy Von Essen both of Maquoketa, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and one brother Michael (Phyllis) Picolotti of Savanna.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Richie Picolotti.
