Linda L. Pauley

Linda L. Pauley, age 75, of Thomson, IL, passed away at her home on September 4, 2023. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later date.

Linda was born at the Savanna Hospital on August 6, 1948, as the daughter of Harry Jr. and Mildred (Handel) Root. Linda lost her mother Mildred when she was very young, but God graced her and her family with a loving second mother, Margaret Root. Linda was raised in Thomson, and attended Thomson schools. She graduated from Thomson High School with the class of 1966. After graduating Linda married Donald Pauley. Together Linda and Donald raised one son. They later separated, but remained friends.

Linda spent most of her working life at General Electric in Morrison, IL. She worked in Morrison for 37 years, retiring in 2005. Throughout her life, Linda enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. Her favorite spots to fish were on the causeway and down by lock and dam 13. Those who knew Linda know she had a mind of her own, and always spoke her mind. She had a strong will, and a caring heart for her family and friends.

Linda is survived by her son, Donald “Bill” Pauley of Thomson; her siblings, Donna Groenewold of Morrison, and David (Andrea) Root of Thomson; her second mom, Margaret Root of Savanna; nephew, Randall (Tonya) Stricker; niece, Chrissa Root; great-nieces, Tashia Mosley and Ashley Stricker; and a great-nephew, Tyler Stricker. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; two uncles, John and Walter Root; four aunts, Vivian Malwickie, and Hazel, Mary, Lydia Root.
