Linda Lee Dewey, age 69, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll, with Pastor Elizabeth Mascal officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Frank – Law – Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. A memorial fund has been established in Linda’s memory.
Linda was born July 20, 1943, in Dixon, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Marion (Gonnerman) Scheffler. She graduated from Dixon High, Dixon, Illinois with the Class of 1961. Linda went to work for Amacare Homecare in Mt. Carroll and later worked at the Good Samaritan Society in Mt. Carroll as a Certified Nurses Assistant and as an Activity Aide. On February 3, 1962 Linda married Richard Dewey.
Linda was a council member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, nature watching especially bird watching, photography, traveling, reading, crafts, art, and writing. Most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family.
Linda is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Richard; five sons, James Dewey of Franklin Grove, Illinois, Daniel (Michele) Dewey of Warren, Illinois, David (Lisa) Dewey of Woosung, Illinois, Andrew (Jenny) Dewey of Polo, Illinois, Steven Dewey of Warren, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters, Ann Vaile of Dixon, Shirley Devine of Dixon, two brothers, Wes (Mary Thersa) Scheffler of Dixon, John Scheffler of Dixon. Linda is preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, Kyle Dewey; one sister, Myrna Heineman and a brother Philip Scheffler.
