Linda L. Burden

Linda L. Burden, age 75, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in Linda’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Linda was born March 22, 1942, the daughter of Maxwell and Goldie Slemmons in St. Marys, Ohio. She married James A. Burden on November 7, 1960. They celebrated 54 of marriage until James’ death on September 14, 2015.

Linda was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. After living in Ohio and Florida, Linda and her husband moved to Northern Illinois in 1970. Once her children were in school, Linda worked at Elkay Manufacturing in Savanna for 18 years. She was a supportive and loving mother, and was always there to support her three daughters. She enjoyed line dancing, and was a member of the “Boot, Scootin Boogies”. She also enjoyed camping and spending time with her close family, friends, and her faithful canine companion, CoCo.

Linda will be dearly missed by three daughters, Kim (Tedd) Schnitzler of Mt. Carroll, Denise (Rusty) Ewalt of Clinton, Iowa, and Jan (Rick) Swick of Beloit, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Brandy (Larry) Johnson, Brandon Schnitzler and James Ewalt; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Hunter. She is preceded in death by her husband, James, and her parents.
