Linda Belander leaves this world a better place, she has had a significant impact upon the youth of our communities. At the age of 53, Linda passed into the Arms of God Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March, 24, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Savanna. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Church. A memorial fund has been established.
Linda was born February 26, 1961 to Charles and Mary Lou (Snodgrass) Belander. She graduated from Savanna High School, with the Class of 1979. During her college career Linda played basketball for Highland Community College for two years, and for Western University for one year. She coached Fresh/Soph Boys’ Basketball in Savanna; coached Volleyball and Basketball in Mt. Carroll; and was a beloved P.E. teacher for the Mt. Carroll and West Carroll School District for 28 years.
Linda always enjoyed sports and her favorite teams include the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bulls. Most important to Linda was family, especially her nieces and nephews. She took time to know each of them in a special way.
Linda will be dearly missed by eight siblings, Charles (Debra) Belander III of Lemont, lllinois, Sally Marken of Savanna, Susan (Jeffrey) McIntyre of Savanna, John (Renee) Belander of Mt. Carroll, Mary (Stephen) Klein of Maquoketa, Iowa, Debra (Tony) Jackson of Savanna, Salinda Belander of Savanna and Joseph Belander of Savanna; sixteen nieces and nephews; one uncle, Willie Snodgrass of Clinton, Iowa; three aunts, Irene McDonnell of Davenport, Iowa, Beverly McArdle of Clinton, Iowa, and Mary Ann Meador of Lanark. Linda is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary Lou; a sister in infancy, Mary Louise; a niece, Jennifer Belander; an aunt, Arlene O'Neal, and four uncles, John, Art, Wilbur and Floyd Snodgrass.
