Leroy A. Kosier, Jr. “Junior”, age 72, of Savanna, Illinois, died Saturday, July 28, 2007, peacefully at home. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with Reverend Michael Jones officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. A Visitation Gathering will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Junior was born September 26, 1934 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Leroy and Jessie (Hartman) Kosier. He attended Savanna Schools and served as a Gunner’s Mate in the US Navy from 1954 – 1958 during the Korean War. On May 28, 1960, Junior married Carolyn Ditsworth in Argo Fay, Illinois.
Junior worked as an Auto Mechanic for 47 years, retiring in 2005 from Milo & Beaver’s BP Station in Savanna.
Junior enjoyed fishing, golfing and working at the station. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Junior will be dearly missed by his wife, Carolyn of Savanna; two sons, Terry Kosier of Savanna and Brad (Amy) Kosier of Savanna; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Preston of LaFayette, Illinois, Fran (Bill) Schmidt of Silverdale, Washington and Linda (Ken) Rodda of Savanna; a brother, Art (Dallas) Kosier of Savanna. Junior is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth St.Louis; brother in-law, Bob Preston; daughter in-law, Teri Kosier; and both parents.
