Leroy William Garien

Leroy William Garien, age 79, of Preston, Iowa, died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2011, at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. Pastor Ronnie Johnston of the Church Of The Open Door, Clinton, Iowa will officiate. Burial will follow in Preston Cemetery.
Leroy was born November 14, 1931, in DeWitt, Iowa, the son of William and Mable (Newmarch) Garien. He attended country schools. Leroy proudly served in the United States Army. On June 4, 1961, Leroy married Mary Ann Roberts. He farmed most of his life and worked for Ralston Purina in-line production for twenty-five years, retiring in 1994.
Leroy was a member of the Preston, Iowa American Legion; he enjoyed staying busy with working and farming.
Leroy will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary Ann; his son, Duane Garien of Miles, Iowa; and a brother, Billy (Karen) Garien of Maquoketa. Leroy is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Garien; a sister, Wilma Hayden and a son, Wayne Garien.
