Leroy P. Gablin

Leroy P. Gablin, age 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Thomson, Illinois died Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the funeral, Leroy wished to have cremation rites accorded and burial will take place in St. Ireneus Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa.

Leroy was born August 20, 1927, the son of Orville and Esther Ruth (Jackson) Gablin in Beloit, Wisconsin. He attended York High School, graduating with the Class of 1945. Leroy honorably served his country in the United States Army. He worked for the railroad as an operator until his retirement in 1950. Leroy enjoyed time spent outdoors.
Leroy is survived by a sister in-law, Trula Gablin of Santa Monica, California; and a niece, Susanne Conrad of Santa Monica, California. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth; and a niece, Dorothy.
