LeRoy L. Beyer, age 74, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Manor Care Health Services in Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, Illinois, with Reverend Kenneth Arndt officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. A memorial fund has been established in LeRoy’s name.
LeRoy was born November 30, 1932 in Woodbine Township near Elizabeth, Illinois, the son of Lorenz and Augusta (Eacker) Beyer. He attended Barret Schools in Derinda, Illinois. He served his country in the United States Army for two years. LeRoy married Lillian C. Ebert on November 27, 1960 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Elizabeth.LeRoy farmed his entire life, he bought the Banworth Farm in 1967. LeRoy retired in 2000, but continued to do custom work for area farmers. He was a longtime member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and working with mules and horses. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters.
LeRoy will be dearly missed by his wife, Lillian of Elizabeth; one son, Terry (Christine) Beyer of Elizabeth; three brothers, Allen (Sharon) Beyer of Savanna, Illinois, Ronald (Peggy) Beyer of Elizabeth and Russell (Linda) Beyer of Elizabeth; three sisters, Dorothy Ellinor of Stockton, Illinois, LaVonne (special friend Lee Michaels) Schrader of Stockton and Twila (Richard) Reusch of Elizabeth; two granddaughters, Amanda (Lee) Burton of San Antonio, Texas and Amy (special friend Dean Kruger) Beyer of Elizabeth.
LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents; one brother John and one sister, Iva Mae Leehan.
