Leota (Lee) Doris May Fowler, age 82, of Spragueville, Iowa passed away at home on Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Friends may call from 4-8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2006 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Immediately following visitation, and beginning at 8:00 p.m, special friend, Dianna Mussman, will preside over a time of sharing memories with Lee’s family. Lee’s remains will be cremated. Memorials in Lee’s name may be given to the Jackson County Humane Society, Spragueville, American Legion Flag Fund or Salem Cemetery of Spragueville. Lee was born July 23, 1923 in Spragueville, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas Andrew and Wilhemina Emma Grace (Thillmony) Bahr. She married Marvin Dale Fowler on May 1, 1943 in Clinton, Iowa. He died November 2, 1997 in Spragueville.
Lee worked in the accounting department at Clinton Engines. She and her husband had owned and operated an interstate trucking buisiness. Lee worked at the Sabula Speaker Factory and in her early years she also worked as a Beautician. Lee's great joy in life was her dog "Charlie" a pal for fourteen years.
Lee is survived by her brother, LaVern (Wilma) Thillmony; her sister-in-law, Nancy Thillmony; four nieces, Linda (Randy) Duhme, Maquoketa, Iowa, Laurie (Joe) Brandenburg, Maquoketa, IA, Sandy Sander, Spragueville, IA and Crystal Thillmony, Edinburg, TX; four nephews, Ronald Hankemeier and David Hankemeier, both of Maquoketa, IA, Brad (Kathy) Thillmony of Phoenix, AZ and Scott Thillmony and friend, Lora Whittemore of Spragueville, IA.
Lee is preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents, Nick and Minnie Thillmony; brothers, Lyle, Ralph and Dwain Thillmony; sister, Doris Hankemeier, and her great-great-niece Taylor Thillmony.
