Leo R. Pauley

Leo R. Pauley, age 80, of Milledgeville, IL, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Allure Nursing Home, in Mt. Carroll, IL. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Mt. Carroll at 11am. Visitation will take place Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Mt. Carroll, from 4pm to 6pm, as well as one hour prior to Friday’s service. Burial will occur at Zion Grove Cemetery.

Leo was born October 17, 1940, in Woodland Township, Carroll County, the son of Orrin and Doris (Buckwalter) Pauley. He attended Chadwick schools, graduating from Chadwick High School with the class of 1958. Leo married Diane Geary, and together, they had three boys. After high school, Leo spent time as a line worker, before joining his father’s business, Pauley Plumbing. Eventually, Leo took over the business which ultimately became Pauley’s Farm Water Supply, operating for decades. It wasn’t until 2014, when Leo finally retired.

Leo was a long-time member of the Lions Club and the Chadwick Fire Dept. In his free time, he enjoyed aviation (he was a licensed pilot), snowmobiling, go-cart racing, and car shows. He also loved to socialize around the area. He spent many mornings driving to some of his favorite local restaurants for coffee and breakfast with the boys.

Leo will be dearly missed by his three sons, Jay Pauley, of Rock Falls, IL, Guy (Gina) Pauley, of Westminster, CO, and Jeremy (Talisa) Pauley, of Milledgeville, IL; seven grandchildren, Lucas (Michelle) Pauley, Alicia (Marty) Pauley, Cooper Pauley, Claire Pauley, Sydney Pauley, Zachary Pauley, and Gabriel Pauley’ two great grandchildren, Olivia and Nolan; and a sister, Shelby (Ken) Jarczyk, of Rockford, IL. Leo is preceded in death by his parents, Orrin and Doris; two brothers, Steven Pauley and Jerry Pauley; and his former wife, Diane.
