Lee Zink was born in Pleasant Valley, Jo Davies County, Illinois to Joseph and Rose (Endress) Zink the 13th of June 1913. He was a WWII vet and served in the U.S. Army from 1942 thru 1945. He married Agnes (Reap) in 1947 at the Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll, IL.
Lee loved to hunt and fish, he stayed busy after retiring helping family, friends and volunteer work in Mt. Carroll up into his 90’s.
Lee is survived by his wife and three children Marsha (John) Ivey, Mt. Carroll, IL, Judith (John) Lambert, Stuart, OK and Lee (Tracy) Zink, Jr., Mt Pleasant, SC. and one daughter-in-law Judy (Joe) Zink, Rockford, IL; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one sister-in-law Marcella Zink, Rockford, IL.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, one son Joseph and one baby; one granddaughter Heidi Traum; four brothers Elmer, Glen, Herman, and Frank; four sisters Carrie Bingham, Lottie Streicher, Lula Randecker, and Mable Wacker; and two son-in-laws Larry Traum and John Ivey.
A memorial service wll be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carroll with visitation one hour prior, 10-:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Church. Lunch following the service. Lee’s ashes will be interned at a later date.
