Lawrence Lee Beaston, age 75, of Ridgecrest, California, formerly of Savanna, Illinois passed away on December 30, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday January 5, 2008 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll, Illinois with Pastor Lisa Mapes at First United Methodist Church of Savanna officiating. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Sterling, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Lawrence’s honor.
Lawrence was born July 31, 1932 at Cresco, Iowa to William and Blanche (Meador) Beaston. He resided in California the past ten years. He attended schools in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Lawrence served in the United States Army from December 01, 1952 to December 03, 1953. On October 10, 1958 he married Marlan Haring.
Lawrence had several odd jobs and worked for Lyons Well Drilling in Stockton, Illinois he also worked for Harlan Rath in Savanna, Illinois. In 1970 Lawrence and his wife ran a home for problem boys in California. The rest of the time he and his wife were self employed. Lawrence and his wife lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, Arizona, Texas, and California. He enjoyed watching Professional Wrestling.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Marlan; three daughters of California, Patty, Kathy and Cheryl; one son, Jim of Wisconsin; five grandchildren; four sisters, Edna Buchholz of Mt. Carroll, Ada Frye of Waterloo, Iowa, Elsie Lawson, and Carol Ingersoll both of Savanna, Illinois; one brother, Harold (Sheila) of Greenbrier, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Alice Hyke, Alta Fisher, and Wilma Beaston, and two brothers Dean and Kenneth.
