LaVonne Kay Blair, age 88, of Lanark, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Javon Bea Mercy Hospital surrounded by the love of her family.
LaVonne was born February 3, 1938, in Stockton, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd and Florence (Schmidt) Belk. She grew up in Stockton and graduated from Stockton High School in 1956.
On November 18, 1956, LaVonne married Glenn Blair Jr. at Christ Lutheran Church in Stockton. Together they raised three sons, Scott, Steve and Mike, and shared 44 years of marriage until Glenn’s passing August 4, 2001.
For 37 years, LaVonne worked for Carroll Service Company in Lanark. She was a dependable and familiar presence there, taking pride in doing her work carefully and treating people well. She retired in September, 2013.
LaVonne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lanark. Her faith, family and community were important parts of her life. She enjoyed reading, bowling and, most of all, spending time with those she loved. Some of her best moments were found in everyday conversations, family gatherings and simply being together.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Scott (Julie) Blair of Arcadia, Wisconsin, Steve (Diana) Blair of Chicago, and Mike (Kim) Blair of Shannon, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Mike Pettit) Blair, Adam (Sarah) Blair, Nicole Blair, Daniel Blair, Andrew Blair, Makenna Blair, and Mason Blair; her sister, Elaine Schlichting of Stockton; and her extended family and friends.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Blair Jr.; her parents, Lloyd and Florence Belk; and Jean Marie Belk and Barbara (Camp) Belk.
A visitation will be held Sunday, 5 - 7pm, July 19, 2026, at Law Jones Eastland, Lanark. The funeral service will be held 10am Monday, July 20, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanark. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. You are then invited back to the Church for a luncheon. The family wishes to thank the Lanark Fire Department and Ambulance Association for their caring assistance, “You were there when needed.”
LaVonne’s life was one of faithfulness—to her husband, her family, her work and her community. She will be remembered for the quiet and steady way she cared for the people around her.
