LaVerle W. Ebert, age 69 of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Friday, March 2, 2007 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 8, 2007 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elizabeth with Reverend Kenneth Arndt officiating. Burial will be in Elizabeth Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday March 7, 2007 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
LaVerle was born October 29, 1937 on the family farm, the son of John and Lydia (Theviot) Ebert. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. He was a 1956 graduate of the Elizabeth High School. After high school he served six years in the Army Reserves. LaVerle farmed his entire life and also worked for the Highway Department for a few years.
LaVerle enjoyed antique tractors and NASCAR racing. In his younger years he raced stock cars.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. LaVerle is survived by his mother Lydia Ebert of Elizabeth; one brother, John Jr. (Sandra) Ebert of Elizabeth; three sisters, Lillian (LeRoy) Beyer of Elizabeth, Joanne (Virgil) Martin of Lena, Illinois, and Joyce (Randy) Stadel of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.
LaVerle was preceded in death by his father John Ebert Sr., one brother LeRoy Ebert and one nephew.
