Laura “Lucille” (Dillon) Ulin, age 93, of Sabula, Iowa died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded. Services and interment are private. Memorials may be directed to the Sabula Ambulance in her name.
Lucille was born February 12, 1915 in West Chester, Iowa, the daughter of S.W. and Jenny (Moothart) DeLong. She graduated from West Chester High School, and on August 12, 1933, Lucille married Irvin Dillon. He passed away January 7, 1961 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She later married John W. Ulin on August 14, 1965 in Conifer, Colorado. He passed away April 19, 2005 in Savanna, Illinois.
Lucille was baptized in the Methodist Faith where she was a past Grand Chief of the Pythian Sisters. Lucille enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and horseback riding. In the past, Lucille had worked as a receptionist at the Holiday Inn, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lucille also enjoyed Flea Marketing until 2007, selling her leather goods. It was at the Great River Flea Market where a friend gave her, her trusted companion, faithful friend and roommate, “Lilly” her cat.
Lucille will be dearly missed by two daughters, Delores (James) Jacobs of Bryant, Iowa and Karen Dillon of Sabula, Iowa; six grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren. Lucille was preceded in death by both husbands; two brothers, Milo and Paul DeLong; and a daughter, Janet Dillon.
