Laura Curl, age 61 of Clinton, Iowa formerly of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Friday, March 06, 2015 at the Sterling Pavilion in Sterling, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Carroll. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the memorial service on Thursday, March 12, 2015.
Laura was born on February 1, 1954 the daughter of Donald Keckler and Ila White in Freeport, Illinois. She was raised by her mother, Ila and her stepfather James Dornbush in Mt. Carroll. She attended Mt. Carroll High School and Graduated with the Class of 1971. After high school Laura attended Lincoln Barber School in the Quad Cities. In her younger years, Laura worked for Swiss Colony and Betty Mom’s Bar in Savanna, Illinois. She later worked doing homecare, and became a home maker where she treasured being able to raise her family.
Laura enjoyed crocheting, crafts, knitting, baking and writing poems. She was baptized with the Seventh Day Adventists. Most of all, Laura cherished the time she spent surrounded by those she loved.
Laura will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Angela (Michael) Smith of Byron, Illinois, Dawn (Todd) Bliefnick of Rock Falls, Illinois; six grandchildren, Steven, Nicole, Mellisa Smith and Marissa, Kirsten, Ryan Bliefnick; two brothers, Donald Keckler of Lanark, Illinois, David Keckler of Savanna; a sister, Vicki Keckler of Freeport, Illinois. Laura is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; one brother, James Keckler and a sister in-law, Conniann Keckler.
