Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Larry’s life following the burial, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Manny’s Pizza in Savanna.
Larry was born on March 14th, 1944, son of Alvin and Virginia (Miller) Schreiber. He grew up in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School with the class of 1962. After high school, Larry proudly served in the National Guard for nine years. In 1966, he married the love of his life, Judy Seaberg, in Rockford, IL. Together they shared fifty-eight years of love, raising six children.
A man of many talents, Larry was known as “Mr. Fix-It” by family and friends. Whether it was fixing household items or lending a hand, he was always there. Larry had a love for the outdoors, particularly hunting, and he took pride in teaching his sons how to hunt. He often brought home rabbit, pheasant, and squirrel for dinner. Larry was passionate about cooking, famous for his stir-fry and grilled meals during the warmer months. From a young age he loved the river, stemming from his days on the Clinton-based water-skiing team, the “Ski-Daddlers.” He was always ready for a quick laugh, and a deck of cards.
Larry worked as an electrician for DuPont for 17 years before continuing his career at AgriKing, where he became head of maintenance and dedicated 28 years of service. Above all, Larry cherished his family, especially his twelve grandchildren, and passed down invaluable life lessons to his children.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Judy Schreiber of Thomson; his sons, Mark (Tina) Schreiber of Savannah, GA, Scott (Samantha) Schreiber of Hahira, GA, Matthew (Angela) Schreiber of Savannah, GA, Luke Schreiber of Fulton, IL, and Paul (Kelly) Schreiber of Dixon, IL; his sister, Karen Wendel of DeWitt, IA; his sister-in-law, Jeanne Salm of Rockford, and his many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Larry is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa; and his parents, Alvin and Virginia.
Larry’s family finds comfort in knowing that he left a lasting legacy of love, humor, and generosity, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
