Larry Allen Lufkin, age 72, of Argo Fay, Illinois died Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Larry’s memory. Larry was born October 31, 1940 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Frank Vincent and Bernice Opal (Hall) Lufkin. He married Maxine (Schomer) Johnson on July 9, 1977 in Clinton, Iowa.
Larry worked as a truck driver for Schafer Fisheries for 20 years, until his retirement in 2003. He also drove truck for Thermo Gas for 18 years. Larry enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, boating and fishing. He also loved playing Euchre, darts and bowling.
Larry will be dearly missed by his wife, Maxine Lufkin of Argo Fay; one son, Aaron (Tracy) Lufkin of Algona, Iowa; three stepsons, Chris John Miller of Argo Fay, Bryon (Renee) Miller of Des Moines, Iowa and Alvin Miller of Texas; two daughters, Tori Schoenhaar (Tracy Seidemann) of Savanna and Michelle Campbell of Georgia; one stepdaughter, Sherri Miller of Argo Fay; 15 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, one brother, Erwin Lufkin of Oneida, Illinois; and a special family friend, Madonna Mae Chase of Clinton, Iowa.
Larry is preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Jo; granddaughter, Stacy Miller; sister Grace Clewell, and both parents.
