Larry Edmund Grenoble, age 61, of Mount Carroll, Illinois died on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home in Mount Carroll. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Larry’s memory.
Larry was born July 26, 1950 in Savanna, the son of Stover Edmund and Betty Lou (Curboy) Grenoble. He was raised on the family farm and attended the Mt. Carroll Schools. Larry remained farming with his parents on the family farm until 1977. He spent the next thirty-five years until the present working at the Rolling Hills Progress Center, Lanark.
While on the family farm, Larry enjoyed raising chickens, ducks and geese. He loved the outdoors including gardening flowers and vegetables, mushroom hunting, berry picking, bird watching and fishing. He canned much of the produce he raised. He especially loved to spend time with family and visit neighbors.
Larry will be dearly missed by his brother, Brad (Kathy) Grenoble of Morrison; Pam (Glen) Heisler of Mt. Carroll; a special cousin, Patty (Darius) Edler of Lena; four nieces, Brooke, Laura, Jennifer and Brittany; two nephews, Bradley and Greg; ten great nieces and great nephews; and his companion cat, Muffy. Larry is preceded in death by his father in 1975, his mother in 2009 and all of his grandparents.
