Kurtis Kehl of Mt Carroll passed away at home surrounded by his family after battling pancreatic cancer on November 13, 2022.
Kurtis spent his life living. He was born in Savanna, IL on March 12, 1956, to Alvin and Dorothy Kehl.
Kurt attended Mt Carroll High School, and while there heard a speech given by a Peace Corp Volunteer that inspired Kurt. After attending Wartburg College and receiving a degree in International Banking, he joined the Peace Corp and he spent 2 ½ years in Togo, Africa teaching agriculture in different villages.
Kurt’s love of travel took him all over the world, exploring, running marathons, and making lifelong friends along the way. “Life has been good and gave me the opportunity to follow my dreams”.
Kurt will be dearly missed by his brother, Steve (Linda) Kehl of Mt Carroll, sister, Peggy (Vern) Johnson of Bartonville Il, nephew, Jeff Johnson of Bismarck N.D., nieces, Victoria Medal of Chadwick and Jennifer (Matt) Plastiak of Mt Carroll and uncle, Richard Kehl of Mt Carroll, his DC Frontrunner Group, and his many friends across the states and beyond.
Kurtis was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Dorothy Kehl, and stepmother Eleanore Kehl.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will be held at a later date.
