Kevin E. “Smitty” Smith, age 56, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away January 12th, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving sister and brother-in-law, as well as the rest of his family. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday January 16th, at New Hope Fellowship Church in Savanna. A celebration of life will be held at TNT Roundhouse, Saturday January 18th, at 3 p.m. for anyone who would like to attend.
Kevin was born January 17th, 1963 in Savanna. He is the son of Fred Smith Sr. and Ruth Klein. He married Lorrie Cox in 1990. They later divorced. Kevin graduated from Savanna High School in 1982, and spent his whole life in Savanna. He worked several jobs throughout the area, and really enjoyed his time working for CJ’s and helping out at Al’s and Maggie’s. The most important thing to Kevin was his three children and his family, followed closely by playing pool. During his time as a pool player he gained many trophies and friends. He was also an expert morel hunter. He always had his favorite spots, and would never share his secret places. Smitty loved to ride his motorcycle, and you could always find him sitting at Marquette Park. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family.
Kevin will be dearly missed by his children, Ashley Brashaw, Devon Brashaw, and Maggie Smith, all of Savanna. He will also be missed by his sister, Sharon (Bill) Chadwick, his brothers Greg (Bert) Smith, Gary (Belinda) Smith, and Fred (Amy) Smith; his three grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his grandparents and great-grandparents.
