Kevin Gerald Lange, age 51, of Chadwick, Illinois passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at home. Kevin was born May 17, 1959 in Yankton, South Dakota, the son of Elred E. and Rosemary (Hoebelheinrich) Lange. He attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School and is a 1977 graduate of Crofton Community High School. He also attended Northeast Nebraska Technical Community College, Norfolk, Nebraska. On July 22, 1978, Kevin married Barbara Jean Ausdemore in Norfolk. They celebrated thirty-two years of marriage. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Kevin’s honor.
Kevin and Barbara began their lives together in Norfolk where Kevin worked for Central States Theater Corporation. In 1984 Kevin and Barbara moved to Ottumwa, Iowa where Kevin managed the Theater. Then in 1992 they moved to Camanche, Iowa and Kevin oversaw building and managed the new Cinema 8 Theaters in Clinton, Iowa. In 1998 they made their home in Chadwick, Illinois . Kevin enjoyed the time he spent with his customers and employees.
The pride and joy of Kevin’s life was his granddaughter, Sommer Elise. He loved the time they had together. He was also a great cook, enjoyed his dogs, gardening, traveling, and watching birds, especially Cardinals and Hummingbirds. Kevin was a member of SS. John and Catherine Catholic Church of Mt. Carroll, Illinois and the Clinton, Iowa Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; a son, Timothy Edward Lange of West DesMoines, Iowa; a daughter, Tracy (Heath) Stewart of Bothell, Washington; granddaughter, Sommer Elise Stewart; his mother, Rosemary Lange of Crofton, Nebraska; four brothers, Dale (Vonda) Lange of Crofton, Warren (Ann) Lange of Bloomfield, Nebraska, Jonathan (Cindy) Lange of Yankton, South Dakota and Todd (Lonna) Lange of Yankton; and two sisters, Debra Meyer of Crofton and Rhonda (Jared) Rang of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Elred; a sister, Brenda in infancy; his father and mother in-law, Ed and Etta Ausdemore; three brothers in-law, Dennis “Norton” Meyer, Lyle Hammer and Victor Porath; and a sister in-law, Marty Chamberlin.
