Kevin Geistkemper, age 63, of Savanna, IL, passed away on May 19, 2025, at University of Iowa Hospitals, in Iowa City. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Savanna, on Friday, May 23, at 10 a.m. Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Law Jones Funeral Home, in Savanna. Burial will take place at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Petersburg, Iowa.
Kevin was born April 24, 1962, in Savanna, the son of Alfred and Verna (Ament) Geistkemper. He grew up in Savanna and attended school at St. Francis School for Exceptional Students, in Freeport, IL. Following his school years, Kevin worked for several years at Rolling Meadows Progress Center, in Lanark, IL.
Kevin was a beloved member of his community. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and his favorite activity was walking around the neighborhood, visiting with the neighbors. He enjoyed puzzles, namely jigsaw and word puzzles, and loved to pass the time on his handheld Yahtzee game. He often referred to himself as a “music man,” due to his love for music and his extensive record collection, and was a tried and true fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He seldom missed an episode of Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune.
Kevin will be dearly missed by his mother, Verna; siblings, Dale (Vickie) Geistkemper, Omaha, NE, Sandra Schiller, of Naperville, IL, and Dr. Jay (Beth) Geiskemper, of Kailua, HI; and several nieces and nephews. Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Alfred.
